Mumbwa copper mine project

Report summary

The latest pre-feasibility study was published in September 2013. Underground mining at a rate of 3Mt/a was considered over a mine life of 11 years. The main reason underlying the choice of underground mining was to lower the capex of the project. The processing route proposed was conventional flotation to produce copper concentrate, which would be subsequently leached and converted to copper cathode through Solvent Extraction Electro-Winning (SXEW).
