Report summary
Mine Waste Solutions (MWS) along with Vaal River Surface and West Wit Surface operations make up AngloGold Ashanti`s South African surface operations. The MWS property is located in the Witwatersrand Basin, 160km from Johannesburg and 8km from Klerksdorp town, North West Province, South Africa. The property comprises 14 tailings dams spread over 1,100 hectares. Ore is extracted from the tailings of three gold and uranium mines which have been in operation for over 50 years. The gold and uranium processing plants have an annual processing capacity of 24Mt and 1.2Mt respectively. Franco-Nevada Corp. holds the right to purchase 25% of the Life of mine (LoM) gold production (capped at 312.5koz) at a minimum purchase price of US$400/oz.
