North Mara gold mine
Report summary
North Mara is a combined open pit and underground mining operation, located in Tanzania. Ore is treated in a 2.8Mt/a conventional gravity, differential flotation and carbon-in-leach (CIL) gold processing plant to produce a gold dore. It is owned and operated by Barrick Gold Corp, following the consolidation of their ownership of Acacia mining on 17 September, 2019. The Government of Tanzania will receive a 16% free carried interest in each of the former Acacia mines. The changes to the ownership structure of the mine, have resulted in the resolution of the ongoing dispute between the Government and Acacia mining and as such the concentrate ban has been lifted.
