Pau Branco iron ore mine
Report summary
Pau Branco is a surface mine owned and operated by Vallourec located in the western side of Brazil's Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) region, Minas Gerais state, approximately 30 kilometres south of Belo Horizonte. The mine produces a concentrate product which is primarily transferred to Vallourec's pelletising unit located in the municipality of Jeceaba, Minas Gerais, 110 kilometres south of Pau Branco. Pau Branco was one of the first iron ore operations in Minas Gerais to implement dry processing after finalising the construction of filtering units in 2015. Pau Branco during 2019-2021 expanded its production capacity rate by 45%. We expect most of this additional capacity to be destined to the seaborne export market.
