Peñasquito zinc mine

Report summary

Peñasquito is an open-pit mine operation with a 25kt/d heap leach facility and a conventional sulphide plant with a design capacity of 124kt/d of sulphide ore. Milled production is expected to ramp back up from 35.2kt/a in 2016, to a throughput rate of 45.1Mt/a in 2019. The dore produced in the oxide circuit is tolled in Met-Mex, Torreon and the concentrates are transported to smelters in Mexico, North America, Asia and Europe. The Met-Mex smelter is located 400km away and the Manzanillo port, used for concentrate exports, is located 800km away from the mine.
