Pirquitas zinc mine

Report summary

Pirquitas is a mining operation that consists of two satellite properties. From December 2009 to January 2017, the Pirquitas deposit, an Ag-Zn epithermal deposit, was exploited through a conventional open pit mine. The processing facility has a mill capacity of 4ktpd and produces silver and zinc concentrates. Currently, Pirquitas stockpiles are expected to feed the mill until mid 2018 when ore from the Chinchillas deposit is available. The Chinchillas Ag-Pb-Zn epithermal deposit will also be exploited through a conventional open pit mine. The processing facility will be modified to produced lead and zinc concentrates. All concentrates are trucked to the port of Antofagasta for shipment. The Pirquitas and Chinchilla properties are 42km apart.
