Quellaveco copper mine project
Report summary
The deposit lies between Southern Copper's Cuajone and Toquepala mines. On July 26 of 2018 AngloAmerican announced the approval of the board to develop the Quellaveco copper project. The estimated capex for a 127.5kt/d ore open pit and conventional concentrator is estimated at US$5.0-5.3 billion. Production of concentrates started in September 2022. Anglo estimates a mine life of 30 years but because of the significant amount of resources the scale as well the life of the mine could be increased.
