The deposit lies between Southern Copper's Cuajone and Toquepala mines. The project involves the construction of a conventional open pit and a 127.5kt/d ore processing plant for the production of copper concentrate, as well as the expansion of the port facilities for the export of concentrate. This investment assumes a concentrator of 127.5kt/d concentrator, diversion of the Asana river and social commitments with the Moquegua region. By 2017 early works represented a capex investment of around US$1000 million with US$4-5 billion still to be spent. Because of this and since all required permits are in place, we are assuming that Anglo America will go ahead with this project.
