Report summary
Quiruvilca is an underground, polymetallic deposit situated in the Santiago de Chuco Province, in the La Libertad Region, Peru. Mining predominantly utilises cut and fill methods, the ore is then processed at the 1725t/d ore mine's own concentrator to produce separate lead, zinc and copper concentrates with payable silver and gold. According to Southern Peaks Mining, in July 2015 the Quiruvilca mine was sold to Sociedad Minera Quiruvilca Inversiones S.A.C. This new owner operated the mine until December 2017 when the mine was shut down after a worker's strike in December 2017. At the beginning of 2021 the mine remained abandoned since many informal miners have taken over the property. Based on this we estimate that this is a permanent closure of the mine-mill.
