Red Dog zinc mine

Report summary

In 2016, Red Dog is expected to be the world's second largest zinc producer. The mine was developed by Cominco Alaska (itself owned by Cominco American Inc.) in partnership with NANA (The Nana Regional Corporation, an Alaska native Corp. representing the interests of the local Inupiat Indians).  The Aqqaluk deposit has been mined since 2010, taking over from the Main deposit from Q1 2012 as the single source of ore. Development of the Qanaiyaq pit, which will supplement Aqqualuk ore, started in Q1 2016.
