Rio Blanco gold mine project
Report summary
Junefield was planning to develop a mine-mill project of 800t/d ore (240kt/a). Mining will be done using underground mining methods and the processing plant is expected to follow a gravimetric, flotation and cyanidation process. A gravimetric concentrate, a flotation concentrate and a cyanidation cement are thought to be the saleable commercial products. The project is located to more than 3.5km away from the Cajas National Reserve and at an altitude of 3,900 m.a.s.l. and because of this the project faced significant opposition. In 2018 the project was stopped.
