Rosh Pinah zinc mine

Report summary

Rosh Pinah mine is located 600km South of Windhoek. It is a underground operation with ore treated in an on-site plant with an annual throughput capacity of 700kt/a. In 2011, the Exxarro board approved the closure of the Springs Smelter where the zinc concentrate from Rosh was treated. In 2012, Glencore finalised its acquisition of an 80.1% stake in Rosh Pinah for a cash consideration of $149M. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
