San Luis Potosi zinc smelter
Report summary
The San Luis Potosi smelter was commissioned in November 1982 at a cost of US$200M. The planned capacity was 113kt/a zinc but as the roasting capacity was only equivalent to 90kt/a zinc, the balance of the production was expected to be obtained from leaching oxide fume. The required tonnage of oxide fume was not available and the capacity of the plant was therefore roaster limited at around 95kt/a zinc.
