Freeport-McMoRan's Sierrita mine is a copper and molybdenum open pit operation approximately 20 miles southwest of Tuscon in Arizona, USA. The minesite produces copper concentrate, copper cathode, copper sulphate, molybdenum and rhenium. In October 2015, Freeport stated operating rates at Sierrita will be reduced by 50% as part of their plans to reduce capital and operating costs. These plans will be reviewed and adjusted as market conditions change.
