Skorpion zinc smelter
Report summary
The Skorpion deposit was discovered by Erongo Mining and Exploration in 1963. It comprises a mixture of carbonate, silicate and oxide ores. Reunion Mining earned a 60% holding by producing a bankable feasibility study, the remainder being held by Anglo American. Minorco launched a bid for Reunion Mining in 1999 and this was followed by a merger of Anglo and Minorco.
