Sohar copper smelter
Report summary
The smelter was commissioned in 1983 as part of an integrated mine/mill/smelter/refinery project undertaken by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. The smelter/refinery site is located 250km north-west of Muscat and 30km inland from the Gulf of Oman coast. At commissioning the capacity of the smelter was 20kt/a anode from concentrate from the integrated mines.
