Sukari is the only large scale commercial gold mine in Egypt. Ore is sourced from a combination of open pit and underground sources. Ore is treated by a combination of conventional milling and dump leaching (for low-grade ore, typically less than 0.59g/t Au). Following completion of the Stage 4 mill expansion to 10Mt/a in 2014, mill throughput at the processing plant has consistently exceeded nameplate capacity. The mine produced 545koz of gold in 2017, and is expected to produce 580koz of gold in 2018.
