Asset Report
Taxco Restart zinc mine
Report summary
The Taxco mining complex includes several underground mines (San Antonio, Guerrero and Remedios) and a 2kt/d ore (730kt/a) flotation plant that produces lead and zinc concentrate with gold and silver amounts. Mine and mill closed at the end of September 2007, following strike action and a lack of development work in the previous two years. Although the mine closure was prompted primarily by the strike action, falling reserves and an inability to convert resources compounded this problem.
