The war in Iran is greatly impacting the production and trade of a number of commodities. Energy supplies and aluminium are the most badly affected but there is also a significant impact on zinc and lead. From a global perspective, mine production and the trade of zinc and lead concentrates is focused on the Mehdiabad mine in Iran. The suspension of shipments is already affecting the Chinese concentrate market. Refined zinc mainly ships to neighbouring Turkey and unwrought lead to the gulf states.
