Toquepala copper minesite
Report summary
Toquepala operates an open pit mine and a conventional 120kt/d ore copper-moly concentrator. The concentrate production is treated in the Ilo smelter (1200kt/a concentrate) and anodes are treated in the Ilo refinery (320kt/a cathode) . As part of our methodology the mine-mill analysis is done in an integrated way. Toquepala also produces copper cathode by leaching low grade sulphide ore. The SxEw plant capacity is 56kt/a cathode. The latter operates with idle capacity.
