The veins were rediscovered in the late 1890s, but it was not before 1914 that development began on the mine. The mine closed in 1921, but reopened in 1937 only to be closed again in 1945. With a capital investment of Y60M in 1950, the mine was re-opened and remained in production until closure on depletion of reserves in 2006. In 1962 the Toyoha Mine Co. was merged with Nippon Mining. In 1981 the high-grade Shinano vein was discovered (4.5Mt grading 270g/t Ag, 0.7%Cu, 2%Pb, 13% Zn). ...
