Asset Report
Trepca zinc mine
Report summary
Past production amounted to an estimated 60.5Mt with grades of over 8% combined Zn and Pb, half of which came from the Stanterg mine. The mines were privatised after the Second World War and operated well until the 1980s, when, starved of investment, the mines and smelters suffered. Production from mines and smelters ceased in August 2000 due to extensive pollution. Since 2006, operations have re-commenced at some of the mines and processing facilities.
