Udokan copper mine project
Report summary
Udokan is one of the largest unexploited copper deposits in the world. The deposit is located in a remote region of the Kalar district in the Trans-Baikal Territory (East Siberia), 30km from Chara rail station. Climate conditions are extreme and there was no existing infrastructure prior to commencement of construction. Additionally, the project area is exposed to high seismic activity. The deposit is to be mined by open pit methods, and construction of a 12Mtpa processing plant is underway.
