Asset Report
Utah Point Hub iron ore mine
Report summary
Utah Point Hub includes the Iron Valley and Wonmunna deposits, both small direct-shipping-ore (DSO) mines in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. Iron Valley is owned by BC Iron but all mining, processing and transport of ore is managed by Mineral Resources. Wonmunna, located nearby, was purchased by MRL from AAMC in September 2020 with first ore produced in February 2021. The hub produces 10.5-11.5Mtpa, which is trucked to Port Hedland for export. Production from Wonmunna has been ramped up quickly to deliver a majority of the blend, allowing higher cost and lower quality Iron Valley to be phased back. Development of nearby Lamb Creek is expected to supplement output from this hub in coming years.
