Vazante (CMM) zinc mine
Report summary
Vazante is 100% owned by Nexa Resources S.A. (Before Companhia Mineira de Metais). Vazante unit operates the Vazante (Willimite) underground mine, the Extremo Norte underground mine that started in July 2015 and a 4.1kt/d ore plant or 1.5Mt/a (2018 capacity). Until 2008 Vazante operated a Calamite open pit mine. The zinc concentrate produced is treated in the Tres Marias smelter owned also by Nexa. The Vazante mine operates a huge pumping system with a capacity of 15,650 m3/hr of water and is expected to be expanded to 19,000m3/hr by 2019.
