Asset Report
Yandi iron ore mine
Report summary
Yandi was a large 80 Mtpa open-cut iron ore mining operation in Australia. However, the mine is now nearing the end of its life, and we expect production to end in 2026, with annual production declining from 2021 and per tonne costs set to rise gradually as production falls. Historically, Yandi was one of BHP's lowest cost iron ore mines owing to its very low strip ratio and relatively easy mining conditions. Yandi produces a low grade fines product with the low mining cost is somewhat offset by the discounted price it receives.
