Asset Report
Yatela gold mine
Report summary
Yatela is an open-pit heap leach operation located 25km north of the Sadiola mine. The mine utilises some of the infrastructure at the nearby Sadiola mine and shares a management team with that operation. Mining activities were ceased in 2013 due to a combination of factors that included depletion of the ore body, concerns over miner safety, a drop in the gold price and rising costs. Stacking of ore on leach pads ceased in 2014 as the mine prepared for closure. Production from previously stacked ore and rinsing of leach pads continued until 2018, with negligible production expected in 2019.
