The Ghanaian part of the Côte d'Ivoire basin occupies offshore western Ghana. To date, it has proved the most successful basin for exploration in the country. The Jubilee field, discovered in 2007, was significant not only because of its size but because it opened a new Cretaceous hydrocarbon play along the West African Transform Margin (WATM). However, until Eni's discovery of the giant Baleine field in Cote d'Ivoire in 2021, none of the subsequent discoveries in Ghana and the wider transform margin have been on the same scale as Jubilee. It is the Cape Three Point area, operated by Eni, that has proved very successful in recent years. Five discoveries have now been made in there, the most recent in July 2021. Over 1.1 billion boe has been discovered and achieved first production in 2017. Appraisal is needed to confirm the subsurface potential of the most recent Eban discovery. Given its proximity to Akoma - Eni refers to the Eban-Akoma complex - we expect it to share qualities.
