Trinidad and Tobago's Columbus Basin has a long history of oil and gas exploration and production. Gas production has begun to decline in recent years, sparking a renewed interest in exploration. Material gas volumes continue to be found in the basin, and though it is challenged due to decreasing discovery sizes and tough PSC terms, value creation is obtainable. State-run Heritage Petroleum Company, several majors, and independents all have interests in the basin, providing access to new acreage and farm-in opportunities.
