Asset Report
Vietnam Cuu Long exploration basin
Report summary
The Cuu Long Basin is located off the southeast coast of Vietnam, and extends in an elongate NE-SW trend, parallel to shore. Water depths are typically less than 100 metres. The basin has two main prospective plays: the Tertiary sequence, and the deeper Basement play. About 80% of production to date has come from the Basement. Oil fields within the shallower Tertiary reservoirs tend to have higher levels of associated gas. The Cuu Long Basin has been the most valuable in Vietnam over the past decade and is now at an advanced maturity stage. It has modest remaining prospective resources and value creation potential. This Exploration Basin report provides a detailed analysis of exploration in the basin, including discovery and development costs, location map, information about licensing and fiscal terms, and prospective resource volume and value potential. This report is accompanied by excel downloads which detail costs, volumes and value.
