Wells to Watch 2022
Report summary
In 2022, global exploration will continue a similar story to 2021. High impact, advantaged exploration will remain a top priority for explorers with around 100 large/giant prospects being tested, targeting around 36 billion boe. The Majors and NOC’s will lead the way in wildcatting, unlocking some three-quarters of the sector’s 15-20 billion boe from new discoveries. Deepwater will remain an exclusive sector with few operators. The large/giant ultra-deepwater prospects have around 17 billion boe up for grabs, followed by a further 10 billion boe in deepwater. Our exploration well choices are reflective of the most interesting and impactful prospects globally. Activity will remain focused on basin hotspots where both Majors and NOC’s again dominate. A return to African exploration has already begun, with multiple high impact wells drilling and making our shortlist.
