Report summary
Wintershall’s growth strategy over the last decade has been based on a mixture of organic growth, along with targeted acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Its core E&P areas are the North Sea (primarily Norway, but also the Netherlands and Denmark), Russia and Argentina, with North Africa (Libya) also within its portfolio. Its focus has been on increasing production in its traditional core areas as well as developing new natural gas reserves in the UAE. Historically, Libya and Argentina provided the largest source of production for the company, although in recent years, Norway and Russia have emerged as new core areas. Wintershall does not yet have any production in the Middle East; however it is well placed to be an attractive partner there; bringing technical skills that can be used to develop complex fields.
