Energy and natural resources sectors are having to deal with the combined forces of the coronavirus pandemic, the oil price crash and an impending global recession. In week two of our weekly briefing, we assess the true case count and spread of the pandemic, and the mounting support flowing to the beleaguered global economy. We also preview what we might expect from China’s Q1 GDP release on Friday. In the sector highlights, we focus on the aftermath of the OPEC+ deal last weekend, the collapse in demand and refinery run cuts, and shine a light on the mounting losses across the power and gas markets in Europe and the US.
