Insight
UK onshore wind and solar come in from the cold
Report summary
With the UK hosting COP26 later in 2020, the country’s ‘Year of Climate Action’ has begun with a significant boost for onshore renewables. Onshore wind and solar PV have been readmitted to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme. Since their exclusion from the scheme following its first allocation round (AR1) in 2015 and the subsequent closure of the Renewables Obligation (RO) program in March 2017, the two technologies have been without any policy-backed financial support in the UK.
