US tight oil moves the pressure onto refiners
Report summary
What are the odds of a distillate shortage as the global crude slate gets lighter and sweeter? As US tight oil production grows alongside OPEC supply restraint, production declines in Venezuela and sanctions on Iran, the global crude slate is gradually changing. This is creating an outlook for refining in which LPG, naphtha and gasoline have the potential to be over supplied. In such a case, the refining industry would have to adapt and shift yields to balance global supply and demand.
