European gas market turbulence is causing a complete rethink of energy strategy and policy. And the drivers to evaluate new domestic supply sources in 2022 have similarities to other areas where shale gas has been commercialized outside of North America. Gas scarcity, a reliance on imports and goals to lower the carbon intensity of the power sector all apply to Europe today. China and Argentina have used these goals to help enable a shale sector, so might Europe follow suit?
