Testing of the Manning Canyon Shale has occurred in the southern portion of the Uinta Basin, near the San Rafael Swell and Wasatch Plateau. In this area, much of the land is controlled by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or leased by existing participants targeting shallower prospects.
