Asset Report
Permian Bone Spring tight oil unconventional play
Report summary
The Bone Spring formation is a sequence of three stacked sandstone intervals - 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bone Spring - that include organic-rich mudstones, interbedded siltstones, shales and limestones and dolostones. The 1st Bone Spring Lime, the 2nd Bone Spring Sand, and 3rd Bone Spring Lime and Sand account for 90 percent of the activity in the larger Bone Spring formation. Unlike most plays, the deepest areas of the Bone Spring are most prospective for oil. The play is deepest in the east, and gradually gets shallower as it moves west.
