Acema was awarded as an operating service agreement (OSA) in PDVSA's Third Marginal Fields licensing round in June 1997. Under the terms of the Acema OSA, an aggressive investment programme was proposed on the block to increase production to over 12,000 b/d by 2007. However, this programme never came to fruition and production peaked at around 3,100 b/d in 2005.
