Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) is the main shareholder in Altius Petroleum, which operates the Akzhar (post-salt) field in west Kazakhstan. KNOC divested from three other oil fields in Atyrau region in 2024. They were located at a considerable distance from Akzhar. Aggregate oil production has declined to less than 4,000 b/d.
