Report summary
The Amu Darya Oil Project contains five oil fields operated by Xinjiang Central Asia Petroleum and Gas Company (CAPEIC), which signed a 25-year contract with Taliban authorities in 2023. The project includes the Kashkari, Bazarkhami and Zamarudsay blocks. First oil was achieved in 2012. However, the lack of an export sales contract meant that output was constrained to less than 2,000 b/d. Operations resumed in 2023, having been suspended since 2016.
