Argentina claims one of the only successful shale plays outside of North America. With little conventional potential, the country is dependent on its Vaca Muerta shale for future growth. The country has a history of regulated hydrocarbon prices, financial controls, and expropriation. Under President Macri, many of the economic and financial constraints have been eased, which has brought fresh investment. We detail the history of oil and gas production and policy and outline our expectations for the future of the industry in Argentina.
