The Basrah Gas Company (BGC) operates the midstream project to process associated gas from the Rumaila, West Qurna 1 and Zubair oil fields in southern Iraq. These fields have around 1.4 bcfd of excess associated gas which is available for processing. In May 2013, when Basrah Gas Company began operations, the effective processing capacity was 460 mmcfd.
