The Beluga River gas field, located on the northwestern side of the Cook Inlet, began producing in 1967 and is one of the larger fields in the Cook Inlet with 1,500 bcf of recoverable gas reserves. The field was discovered in 1962 by Standard Oil and is currently operated by Hilcorp. Through gas trading agreements, gas from Beluga was used to supply ConocoPhillips' contractual obligations at the Kenai LNG facility, along with production from the North Cook Inlet field, as well as ...
