Canada's oil sands, a significant player in the global energy matrix, face the dual challenge of environmental concerns and the global push towards sustainable energy. This Wood Mackenzie report offers a project-level quantitative analysis of the strategies, collaborations, and technological shifts proposed by the Pathways Alliance that aim to position the oil sands industry at the forefront of the net-zero emissions movement by 2050. We identify the nine projects that we anticipate will be part of the Phase 1 carbon capture and sequestration project, project the trajectory of emissions reductions and look to the company specific actions being taken.
