Report summary

Block M9 is located in the Gulf of Moattama and contains four gas fields. ARCO discovered the Shwe Pyi Htay gas field in March 1997 but relinquished the block later that year. PTTEP was awarded the block in 2003 and discovered the Zawtika, Kakonna and Gawthaka fields in quick succession during a 2007 drilling campaign. The development plan is similar to the Yadana and Yetagun projects with gas piped to shore and exported to Thailand via Ban-I-Tong.
