The Casanare Area comprises six separate licences in the Llanos Basin that contain a large number of fields. The majority of the produced crude is transported to Coveñas for export via the ODC and OCENSA pipelines, although the crude produced at the Trinidad field is sold at the wellhead to Ecopetrol. Discoveries within the Casanare area are all small and are formed by closure of subtle antithetic faults. There are no gas caps. The major producing horizons are the Upper Eocene Mirador formation and the Oligocene C7 (the lowest producing member of the Carbonera formation). The Mirador is the major reservoir in the west and the deepest primary reservoir target.
