YPF discovered the Chachahuen field in 2011 as part of the "2010-2014 Development and Exploration Plan" released in 2009. The block is located in the northern flank of the Neuquina basin in the province of Mendoza and produces conventional oil. Phoenix Global Resources (previously Andes Energía) has partnered with the NOC to develop the asset since its discovery.
