Imperial Oil's Cold Lake in-situ operation is located 300 kilometres northeast of Edmonton and was the first commercial in-situ oil sands operation. Bitumen is recovered using the Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) extraction technique for Phases 1-16. The Grand Rapids development came into production in May 2024, and uses the first industrial employment Solvent Assisted-Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SA-SAGD) technology.Cold Lake is 100% owned by Imperial and is a key asset for the ...
