Corporate themes from Q4 2016 results: growth back on the agenda after a dismal 2016
Report summary
Low oil and gas prices caused more operational and financial damage in 2016. Although Q4 was another weak quarter for earnings, more companies were in the black and impairments trended down. A renewed appetite for growth is being led by the US Independents but the Majors are also re-emphasising their ability to grow. M&A-led repositioning is surging as activity broadens out beyond the US Lower 58. And selective high-impact exploration is back on the agenda.
