The East Obaiyed field is located in Egypt's Western Desert, around 20 kilometres east of Capricorn Energy and Cheiron's Obaiyed field. The Faramid Block was awarded to Eni through its wholly-owned Egyptian subsidiary, International Egyptian Oil Company (IEOC), during the 2004 Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) bid round.
